This Privacy Policy describes how SchoolWay (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information in connection with your use of our mobile application (the “Service”).

a) Information Provided to Us

The transportation companies or schools that you have authorized provide us with the necessary information to operate our service. This includes:

  • Child's first and last name.
  • Parent's or guardian's phone number.

This information is used solely to identify the child for transportation purposes and to send notifications to the corresponding parent or guardian.

b) Information We Collect Automatically

When you use our app, we automatically collect certain technical information, including:

  • Device Information: Such as your device ID.
  • Log and Usage Data: Information about how you use our app, including crash reports and performance data, to help us identify and fix problems.
  • IP Address: To understand general user location and for security purposes.
  • Driver Location Data: We collect precise location data from the driver's device to enable the real-time school bus tracking feature. This data is collected from the time you start a trip until you end it, and it is shared with parents to allow them to view the bus's live position.

c) Information from Third-Party Services

We utilize third-party services to provide core functionalities of our app:

  • Google Maps: To display bus routes and real-time locations. Google's use of information is governed by its own privacy policy.
  • GoSMS (or other SMS provider): To send notifications to parents' phone numbers. The SMS provider only receives the phone number and message content necessary to deliver the alert.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To Provide and Maintain Our Service: To operate the core functionality of the app, including tracking school buses and sending timely notifications to parents.
  • For Customer Support: To assist you with technical issues or respond to your inquiries.
  • To Improve Our App: To analyze usage data and crash reports to enhance the stability, functionality, and user experience of our Service.

We do not use your personal information for marketing or advertising purposes.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. Your information is shared only in the following circumstances:

  • With Service Providers: We share information with third-party vendors who perform services on our behalf, such as our SMS provider (GoSMS) and mapping service (Google Maps), as described above.
  • For Legal Reasons: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to:

    • Prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the Service.

  • Access, Update, or Delete Information: If you wish to review, correct, or request the deletion of the personal information we have on file, please contact your transportation provider. They will coordinate with us to process your request.
  • Opt-Out of Data Collection: To opt-out of our Service and stop the collection of your data, please contact your transportation provider to have your information removed from our system.

6. Children's Privacy

We understand the importance of protecting children's privacy. We collect children's names and surnames only for the purpose of identifying them for school transportation. This information is provided to us by the transportation company, which obtains it from parents.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without such consent, we will take steps to delete that information.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
